DeKalb County Council welcomes your participation.
- Check newspapers for articles or ads of hearings on legislation, zoning matters, the county budget or other issues of special interest to you.

- Birth Certificates with laminated wallet size
- Death Certificates
- Food Service permits
- Health-related complaints and home visits, as needed.
- Lipid profile, Health check, Mantoux, etc.: free of charge (appointment necessary)
- Geneology
- Restaurant and food store inspections
- Septic permits
- Soil evaluations (Completed by soil scientists - listing of scientists available)

Develop a new business structure or make improvements to my existing structure(s):
DeKalb County Plan Commission which is responsible for
- Issuing Improvement Location Permits for new structures or additions to existing structures.
- Approval by the Plan Commission of Re-zoning, Subdivision and Development Plan applications.
- Approval by the BZA of Variance and Special Exception application.
- Issuing zoning verification letters for title work. May eventually be able to offer other reports relating to land use depending on what information is needed, if we have that information and if we have the time/means to research and create the report (the fee depends on the work required).

Join The Citizen Watch Program
Visit the DeKalb County Sheriff's web site and join the The Citizen Watch Program.
The Citizen Watch Program includes a variety of community strategies for preventing criminal and delinquent behavior. It includes activities designed to protect people from becoming victims or to provide services to people vulnerable to becoming involved in criminal or delinquent behavior. The primary activities are designed to make the neighborhood a safer place in which to live. Their aim is the participation of community residents in an effective self-help organization, to develop and conduct anti-crime programs within each neighborhood.

Want to plant a tree? The DeKalb County Soil & Water Conservation District can help. The district has available a tree planter to rent for those big projects.
A tractor with a three point hitch is needed. Call their office at (260) 925-5620 ext. 3 to reserve time for pick up.

Visit or contact the DeKalb County Surveyor's office which is responsible for managing all DeKalb County drains and tracking the following information:
- Approximate location of county drains
- Section corner information
- Record surveys
- Highway and railroad drawings
- County-wide USGS quadrangle maps
Federal and State Veteran's Benefits
Visit or contact the Dekalb County Veterans' Service Office
Their Quick Reference Guide (QRG) to Veteran's Benefits is made available by Tom Applegate, Huntington County, Indiana Veterans' Service Officer. It is downloadable in three formats for your convenience. The QRG is a complete listing of federal benefits and Indiana state benefits and gives tips on forms to use to submit various applications for benefits. Most forms are Acrobat .pdf forms and may or may not be available, depending on your computer and your internet capabilities.
