The DeKalb County Clerk of Courts is a constitutional office and elected for up to 2 - 4 year terms.

Clerk of Courts Duties

The responsibilities of the Clerk are varied. They include maintaining the records of the Court. By statute, the Clerk is required to maintain a record of civil and criminal cases. Its personnel have responsibilities in both Criminal and Civil Courts. Their duties include arrest, subpoenas, evictions, processing of arrest warrants, Voter Registration, Elections, Child Support, Small Claims, Traffic, State Tax Warrants, Probate, Guardianship and Trusteeships. The Clerk is also responsible for all budgets of the Clerks office including Voter Registration and Elections budgets. The Clerk also is the Secretary of the Election Board and the Commission on Public Records.
